** We Got COLOR in 2009 **
Background
For many years it was common to have a stallion service auction for every club, every year.
These programs were popular with both the stallion owner and foal owner. With the downturn
in the economy, mare owners are choosing not to breed as many of their mares. Stallion
owners are still being asked to donate breedings thereby taking money out of their pockets
and resulting in fewer paid breedings per year. Other regional clubs have changed their
programs and asked the stallion owner to donate up to $250 per year to make their foal crop
eligible. Both ideas are reliant on the stallion owner to make the most financial contribution.
Mission of the Program
To enable stallion owners to utilize a marketing program for their stallions and foals while maintaining paid breeding numbers.
Rules
1. Stallion owner must be an SAHC member each year the stallion is nominated.
2. ApHC and approved outcross stallions are nominated by February 28 of the 2009 breeding year for no charge.
Stallions may be nominated from March 1 to June 1 for a $200 fee to be utilized in the SAHC general fund or for prizes in the future futurities.
3. All show-eligible ApHC foals from the nominated breeding season are eligible for the stakes classes.
(2008 crop for 2009 yearlings and 2009 crop for weanlings.)

7. Payback checks will be mailed within 4 weeks of the show.

the show, if necessary.
