When it comes to riding on horseback, one of the best in the business is Kaylee Sullivan of
Coweta.
Sullivan, 17, participated in the 2009 Northwest District 4-H Horse Show held May 9 at the
Claremore Expo Center in Claremore. She won a host of awards in all seven events and qualified
for the State 4-H Horse Show planned for June 18-20 in Shawnee.
She will complete in Halter (Mares 5-years and Under), Showmanship (ages 15-19),
English/Hunter Under Saddle, English/Hunt Seat Equitation, Trail, Western Pleasure/ Horsemanship
and Reining.
At the district level it was Sullivan's first time to compete in the English events.
Sullivan has participated in the 4-H program for nine years. She rides a 4-year-old Appaloosa
named Silky.
She trained her own horse up until two months ago when horse trainer Shari Goff began helping
her prepare for the District competition.
That training paid off and the Coweta teen is looking forward to even more success at the
state level.
Sullivan will be a senior this fall at Coweta High School where she is a member of the National
Honor Society and participates in both band and color guard.
The award winning rider is the daughter of Faron and Sandy Sullivan and the granddaughter of
Bob and Lavern Cole of Coweta and Duane and Debbie Sullivan of Mounds.
