May 21, 2005 - Trailride

Walnut Creek State Park
West of Prue, Oklahoma

11:00 am to 5:00 pm

** Map of Walnut Creek State Park **

Walnut Creek State Park, on beautiful Keystone Lake, is only a short distance from Tulsa, but far away from city life. The park offers one of the best equestrian trails in the Oklahoma State Park System.

Equestrian enthusiasts will enjoy the 15-mile Sand Plum Trail which features flat to rolling terrain with many vistas of the lake. The park also offers an equestrian campground with electrical hookups, water, picnic tables, grills, picket posts and a comfort station.

Directions: From the Cimarron Turnpike (Hwy 412) west bound, take the West 209th Street exit. Travel north on this road for 13 miles. Turn left at the Walnut Creek State Park sign. Continue on the park road to the Hitching Post campground. Turn left into the campground and turn left on to the campground road. There are sites and parking for trailers. Each site has a table and fire pit.

April 16, 2005 - Combo Clinic

Distance Riding ~ Bill Wicklund
Chief Joseph Trail Ride ~ Becky Goumaz

Held at Diamond Run Farm
Oktaha, OK - 3:00 pm

** Map to Diamond Run Farm **
** Street View Map **

From the north: Take Hwy 69 south through Muskogee. Hwy 69 will turn into an interstate type of setup. Keep going south to the Wainwright exit. At the Wainwright exit, go left (east) about a mile to the stop sign. At the stop sign (Oktaha Rd), go left again (north). A little over a mile look for a white sign on the left hand side of the road that says "Ross Welding", that's 93rd St, turn left again (west). I'm the 4th driveway on the right.

From the south: Take Hwy 69 north past the I-40 interchange and about 8 miles after that watch for the Wainwright exit. Turn right (east) and go about a mile to the stop sign, which will be Oktaha Road. From there the directions are the same as above.

From the west: Take Hwy 62 out of Okmulgee or Morris east, I'm guessing about 20 miles until you get to the stop sign where all the numbered roads turn. You'll want to keep going straight. You'll then be on Wainwright Road. Keep going through Wainwright, and up over the Hwy 69 interchange. About a mile after the interchange you'll come to a stop sign, which is Oktaha Road. From there the directions will be the same as those at the top.
